“Breakfast with Dads, Restoring Fatherhood in Our Schools and Communities. ”

Years ago, something powerful happened at Billy Earl Dade Middle School in Dallas, Texas. The school hosted a simple event called “Breakfast with Dads,” inviting students to bring their fathers or father figures for a morning of food, conversation, and bonding. What they didn’t expect was for over 600 men—fathers, uncles, mentors, and community leaders—to show up. It was more than breakfast. It was a movement.

And now, it’s time to mirror that energy in the present day.

Across America, we’re surrounded by strong, loving, responsible Black men—men who are engineers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, entrepreneurs, men of faith, and men of action. But too often, these images are drowned out by negative stereotypes pushed through media and entertainment. It’s time to take control of the narrative.

It’s time for our schools, churches, mosques, and grassroots organizations to unite and build safe havens where children—especially those without active fathers in their homes—can see what real manhood looks like. Because when a child sees a man who is present, consistent, respectful, and spiritual, it lays a foundation for life.

The Opportunity in Our Hands, We already have the blueprint:

  • The Nation of Islam has long sent brothers into schools, providing mentorship rooted in discipline and divine guidance.

  • Church communities are stepping up to host father-son breakfasts, youth nights, and mentorship circles.

  • Grassroots programs across cities like Baltimore, Chicago, and Atlanta are connecting men with young people in need of fatherly support.

To every father who already shows love and guidance to his own children—thank you.

To the men who reaches beyond his household and pours love into someone else’s child—thank you.

To the men who take time from work, from their own struggles, to lift a child higher—you are nation builders, thank you.

These acts may seem small—showing up to a school event, helping with homework, giving a word of advice—but they’re changing lives. They’re repairing what society said was broken.

We can make “fatherlessness” a thing of the past. Not just through biology, but through responsibility and presence. The community must raise the child—and that starts with the men willing to step up.

Let’s Build Something Together

  • Let’s bring back “Breakfast with Dads” across the country.

  • Let’s organize “Manhood Mondays” at local schools.

  • Let’s hold workshops where boys can learn how to tie a tie, fix a bike, or start a business—from men who care.

Let’s bring media attention to these powerful moments so that our sons—and our daughters—see the truth about who we are. This isn’t about ego. It’s about legacy.

Let us flood these schools, these neighborhoods, and these communities with the love, guidance, and example of real men. Let us be the bridge to a new generation of family, unity, and strength.

All things are possible when we lead with courage and the right spirit. The world is waiting. The children are watching. Let’s give them something beautiful to believe in.

Peace and power to every man who chooses to lead with love.
