In this special edition from Brother Charles E. Muhammad, we are invited to reflect deeply on what it truly means to appreciate a woman — and, even more profoundly, to honor the importance and sacred security of mothers.

In this beautiful tribute, Brother Charles pours out his love and deepest praise to his beloved mother, Ms. Isabell Jackson — the precious vessel God chose to bring him into this world. Through her, he became a light and a gift to us all, a reminder of the divine power and grace carried within every mother’s love.
This heartfelt piece, The Sacredness of Mother, speaks to many of our shared sentiments on a deeper, spiritual level. We are grateful for the spirit in which Brother Charles offers his reflections, extending his heart and voice in celebration of mothers everywhere.
We hope you feel the love, gratitude, and reverence woven throughout this special edition. Let it inspire you to cherish the mothers in your life today and always.
The Sacredness of Mother by contributing writer Brother Charles E. Muhammad
There are 99 main attributes that serve as titles describing what GOD does; however, there is but ONE word that encapsulates what GOD is: GOD is LOVE. LOVE is not merely a title — it is the very essence of GOD Himself!
This truth reveals that LOVE is the supreme force of our universe. LOVE is the Word that was “in the beginning with GOD,” and (LOVE) was GOD; and by (LOVE), all things were made that were made.
The only LOVE that even approaches the intensity of the LOVE GOD exudes is the LOVE a Mother carries for her child. “There is no LOVE like a Mother’s LOVE.” In fact, ALLAH (GOD) created Mothers to teach humanity the art and the science of LOVE. Even the prophets of GOD had to sit at the feet of their Mothers and study the principles of LOVE. History testifies that the foundation of every great man was built on his LOVE, respect, and honor for his Mother or Mother-figure. As Tupac Shakur once said in Keep Ya Head Up: “We learned our game from our Mother.”
GOD created the womb of the Mother as the portal of life into this dimension of time and space. And it is the reverence of the womb that bore you that determines the quality of your stay here on Earth.
With this truth, we begin to understand the root cause of the deplorable condition of humanity today. Our world suffers from the deterioration of civilized behavior — a direct consequence of the degraded level of respect, honor, and reverence for Motherhood. “The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that shapes the world.” Today, the nurturing hand of Mother has too often been replaced by the cold, corrupted claws of technology. Our children are not being rocked gently to sleep but instead lulled into a kind of comatose state, awakening as beings void of empathy and compassion — programmed to chase only superficial desires.
You can measure the presence of GOD by weighing the expression of LOVE. And there is no greater human expression of LOVE than that of a Mother for her child. A Mother’s LOVE is the barometer by which the wise measure the future. Surely, the sacredness of Motherhood warrants far more than a single day of thanks, gratitude, and appreciation.
The sacredness of Motherhood should be protected. It should be promoted. And it should be celebrated for as long as we have breath in our bodies — and even beyond the grave. We should always be found offering prayers, thanks, and gifts of appreciation for our Mothers.
It is attributed to The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad as saying, “If there was no GOD, the only thing worth worshipping would be the woman.” All your heroes, all your saviors, all the people you have ever loved, admired, or benefited from — every single one of them had a Mother. Whether she is remembered as good or bad, you could not have been enriched by your hero unless their Mother risked her life so that they might have life.
So today, I offer a sincere thank you to each and every woman who has upheld and advanced the divine institution of Motherhood. This gratitude also extends to the women who may not have physically borne children, but whose display of LOVE and nourishment helped a child experience a Mother’s LOVE.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! May you forever feel seen, loved, and appreciated.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY -Brother Charles E. Muhammad-
