Ms. James is currently facing serious federal charges in Virginia, including allegations of bank fraud and providing false statements to a financial institution. These charges are related to how she reported the use of a home she purchased in 2020. Back in early 2019, she started looking into the Trump Organization, and by August 2020, she had to take legal steps to make sure her subpoenas were enforced. In February 2022, Judge Arthur Engoron ruled in her favor, and a couple of months later, in April, Donald Trump was found in contempt of court for not following the subpoenas and was fined $110,000.
