There was a mayoral election in a small town where people had their own choices and preferences for who they wanted to elect. This town was historically known for its family-oriented atmosphere, where residents leaned on each other for support. However, this particular mayoral race was different.
People had differing views and ideas, leading to a divide within one family that was previously close-knit. Unfortunately, they allowed politics to create a rift among them. Months after the election, the family separated because the candidate they supported did not win. This disagreement pushed them further apart.
One day, during a rainstorm, a family member found themselves stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire and no one to assist them. Two cars drove by, but only one stopped. One car belonged to the newly elected mayor, while the other contained family members of the stranded person.
The moral of the story is a reminder that family and close bonds should always come before differences in opinions, especially in areas as temporary and divisive as politics. In a town known for its close-knit, supportive community, it’s easy to see how politics can still drive a wedge between people, creating an illusion that winning an election matters more than maintaining meaningful relationships.
When one family member was in need, it wasn’t the winning candidate who came to their aid but rather the family member who disagreed with them. This act of kindness highlights that no matter the disagreements, love and loyalty within family should outweigh any outside influence. In the end, politics can divide, but true love and compassion unite.
The lesson here is clear: relationships, especially those rooted in love and genuine care, should never be sacrificed for fleeting disputes. Differences in opinion are inevitable, but they don’t have to be destructive. When we focus on what truly matters—support, loyalty, and love—we realize that these values are much stronger than any disagreement.
Despite the rain, the family member got out and helped change the tire, ensuring that their relative could get back on the road safely. .
We should never exploit or abandon one another due to differing opinions, especially when those differences are not based on a godly foundation.
