Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) is a historically African American sorority, founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. It is the first Greek-lettered sorority established by and for African American women. AKA is one of the nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations (BGLOs) collectively known as the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC).
