Plug Into the Right Power: Energy, Depression, and the Sources We Choose

BLXCR Editorial: The noise of war, rising prices, and inflation fills the air, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the weight of it all. Add that pressure to the responsibilities of family, work, and daily life, and the result can be an energy drain that affects not just the mind, but the spirit. The reality is, we are living in an environment where negative energy is constant, and if we are not careful, it will become the very source we draw from.

Stay Plugged Into the Right Power

In a time where uncertainty seems to sit heavy on the minds and hearts of many, it becomes necessary—not optional—that we understand what we are connected to. Just like a device cannot function without being plugged into a source of energy, neither can we. The real question is not whether we are plugged in, but what we are plugged into.

Electricity teaches us a powerful lesson. When something is connected to the right voltage, the right current, it performs exactly as it was designed. But when the source is wrong—too weak or too strong—it either fails to function or it burns out. Human beings are no different. We are constantly receiving and responding to energy: from conversations, environments, media, relationships, and most importantly, from our spiritual foundation.

Depression, for many, feels like a loss of power. It is that dimming of the internal light, where motivation fades, clarity weakens, and even the simplest actions feel heavy. But just as a device doesn’t generate its own electricity—it draws from a source—we too must recognize that the energy we carry is often a reflection of what we are connected to. If we are constantly plugged into negativity, toxic conversations, destructive media, or environments that drain rather than restore, then we should not be surprised when our internal state begins to mirror that same darkness.

There is a deeper truth here: not all energy gives life. Some energy drains, some distorts, and some destroys. And in today’s world, negative energy is widely available, easily accessible, and often disguised as entertainment, information, or even companionship. If we are not mindful, we can unknowingly stay plugged into sources that quietly feed anxiety, fear, comparison, and hopelessness.

But there is another source—one that has sustained people through trials, loss, and uncertainty for generations. That source is rooted in prayer, devotion, discipline, and a connection to God as one understands Him. This is not passive energy. This is restoring power. It is the kind of energy that doesn’t just help you cope—it helps you overcome. It realigns your thinking, strengthens your spirit, and reminds you that even in darkness, light is still available.

To be plugged into a righteous source of energy is to be intentional. It means evaluating what we allow into our minds and spirits daily. It means turning away from what weakens us and drawing closer to what builds us. It means understanding that just because something is available does not mean it is beneficial.

There are times when depression brings pressure—real pressure. It can feel like a fight just to stay steady. But pressure, when understood correctly, is not always a sign of defeat. In electrical terms, pressure—voltage—is what drives power. The key is ensuring that the pressure we are under is connected to the right source. Because when it is, that same pressure can produce strength, growth, and resilience.

We must also learn the discipline of unplugging. Not everything deserves our energy. Not every conversation needs our participation. Not every environment is meant for our presence. If something is feeding your spirit in the wrong way, draining your peace, or pulling you away from your purpose, then it is not enough to recognize it—you must disconnect from it.

And here is the empowering truth: when you unplug from a negative source, it loses its influence over you. It cannot function without your connection. The same way a device goes dead when disconnected from power, negativity loses its hold when you stop feeding it your attention and energy.

In today’s times, where so many are searching for stability, peace, and direction, the call is clear. Be wise about what you plug into. Guard your mind. Protect your spirit. Seek out sources that give life, not just stimulation. Surround yourself with people, practices, and principles that uplift rather than drain.

Because when you are connected to the right source of power, something powerful happens. Your light returns. Your strength rebuilds. Your clarity sharpens. And even in the midst of dark places—whether internal or external—you become a source of brightness, not just for yourself, but for others as well.

Stay plugged into what gives you life. Disconnect from what drains it. And remember, the power you need is not something you have to create—it is something you must choose to connect to.
